Missouri vs. Tennessee
Saturday, October 3, 2020 – 12:00 PM ET at Neyland Stadium, Knoxville, TN
Missouri wasn’t expected to hang and bang with No. 2 Alabama last week, as evidenced by the 28-point spread, but after a sluggish start, they were able to outscore the Tide, 16-10, in the second half. When the dust settled, Alabama secured a 38-19 victory but it was the Tigers’ backers who easily cashed with the four-touchdown head start.
Their opponents this week, Tennessee, had a solid debut against South Carolina and did pretty much what many believed they would do when they claimed a hotly contested, 31-27, decision as four-point road chalk. The oddsmakers nailed it and now the Volunteers will return to Knoxville to face their SEC rivals from Missouri.
Last season the Vols were only marginally superior to the Tigers and defeated them 24-20 at Memorial Stadium in November of 2019. Tennessee ended the season with an 8-5 mark while the Tigers closed with a 6-6 record. Now we see that the odds on this early season matchup have Tennessee favored by a whopping 11 ½ points which looks like good value on the road pup here.
However, if we look back at the last three matchups between these conference rivals we see that Missouri has won two of three and what a return we would get if the Tigers could make it three of the last four! Bovada is giving us reason to believe, tagging Missouri at +350 on the moneyline, and allowing us to pull hard for the upset. Let’s back Missouri plus the points and sprinkle a few bucks on them to cash a big road win in Knoxville.

Baylor vs. West Virginia
Saturday, October 3, 2020 - 12:00 PM ET at Milan Puskar Stadium, Morgantown, WV
When scanning the college football odds looking for value on the moneyline, we often find ourselves trying to get our hooks into an underdog dripping with value. We found one such golden nugget last week when Syracuse welcomed 7 ½ point favorite Georgia Tech to the Carrier Dome and gave them a 37-20 whoopin’, where we eschewed the points and grabbed +260 over at Bovada.
However, underdogs do not comprise our universe of moneyline selections. In this matchup, we see that the line opened with Baylor -2 ½ but it is quietly creeping up to -3 at some of the majors. Therefore, before it spikes too high, we can get the Bears, fresh off of a 47-14 thumping of Kansas and covering the 17-point impost with ease, at a fair price without laying any points.
Conversely, the Mountaineers gave little pushback to Oklahoma State last week as they bowed, 27-13, and failed to cover as 5 ½ point road dogs. Two teams, that looked vastly different last week and now we get to take the superior squad for only -135 on the moneyline? Yeah, gimme some of that!

Ole Miss vs. Kentucky
Saturday, October 3, 2020 - 4:00 PM ET at Kroger Field, Lexington, KY
It takes a big move for the oddsmakers to move off of a critical number in college or pro football because they open themselves up to a “middle”. For those unfamiliar with the vernacular, a middle occurs when the favorite is bet at a favorable number (-6 for example) and so is the underdog (+7 ½). If the score lands in-between (7), those betting the favorite and the underdog would both win, causing the bookmaker to pay out both sides.
In this game, Kentucky opened as seven-point favorites but that number has dipped to as low as six at a few of the offshores. Whether it is sharp or public money is uncertain but the action is definitely hot and heavy on the underdog, Ole Miss. I’ve seen this movie before, and oftentimes the dog not only covers the number but wins the game outright.
If we can’t get Ole Miss +7 any longer, let’s go for the gusto and bet them on the moneyline in our college football picks!
